Who is Ivanka Trump?

She is a Woman, a Mother & a businesswoman. She also happens to be the daughter of one of the most powerful men on the planet – President Donald Trump.

It is no secret that his election has been one of the most controversial elections of all time. It has divided the nation & to some extent the sexes. The women’s march in Washington was a prime example of how the female society looks upon the President now.
However, this is not about the Presidential policies or his opinions on abortion – this is about a woman being punished for his existence.
Ivanka Trump has had her collections in multi million pound department stores for years now – just a few include Nordstrom, Niemen Marcus, Marshalls & T.J.Maxx. Since the President’s election recently, the boycott on the women of the Trump family has escalated. First, Melania Trump was refused dressing from designers such as Tom Ford & Marc Jacobs & now Trump’s daughter Ivanka is having her own business boycotted by many in the Fashion Industry as a response to the political climate.
The political element is something in which I can respect – in normal circumstances. The right to freedom of speech & political opinion is an issue in which I completely understand. However, this is a situation which has now I feel begun to go too far. This is the intentional boycotting of one woman’s business; a business in which she has built prior to her Father being in power. And a business in which provides for her family.
As a woman, I have my own opinion on a number of issues in the world right now.
Did I vote for Brexit? No
Do I agree with it? No
But it’s happened & I respect the fact that my country made that decision collectively.
It is now a case of “getting on with it”
We are all entitled to our own opinion – but when does this begin to go too far & enter in to the realms of oppression?
Retailers have blamed the decrease in sales as a legitimate reason to cut her clothing & accessories collections from their stores. However statistically correct this is – we have to question why this has happened?
A representative from Nordstrom stated “Sales of the brand have steadily declined to the point where it didn’t make good business sense for us to continue with the line for now,” – I can’t help but question this without automatically assuming there is some obvious political link this?
Prior to the Presidential Election, there was no known issue with the collections – or at least if there were this was not made a substantial public issue of.
There seems to be a distinct link between the Presidential Election & the women in his life paying the price for the country’s political persuasion.
One of Trumps top advisors Sean Spicer was quoted to say “This is a direct attack on the President’s policies and her name,”
Coming back to my very first article – are we not meant to support women in all their endeavours? Regardless of political opinion?
For many in the Fashion Industry in the USA – this seems far too much to do.
However, there are a number of retailers which are still carrying an inventory of Ivanka’s collection. These include Macy’s, Bloomingdales & Dillard’s.
For how long is the question?
Will the social & political pressures all become too much for the multi million pound retailers to compete with?
Are are we again seeing a case of "selective feminism" rearing is ugly head again?
